Agriculture

Agriculture plays an important role in our local economy, and Cumberland College is pleased to assist by providing agricultural based programming.  The programs offered are intended to help producers enhance their operations and keep current on the latest industry trends.

Courses may be eligible for Agricultural Skills and Knowledge (ASK) funding, which offers up to 50% reimbursement.  Please visit this link for details.
 



As of 2020, we also offer the Certified Crop Advisor Exam Prep course in partnership with Parkland College.  For more information about the certification and exams, please visit prairiecca.ca.  We are offering a Fall session starting October 27, 2021.  Keep watching this page for registration details.

Courses available:

Surface Blasting Exam Prep

Whether working in your yardsite, farm, or rural municipality, this training will help you learn to use explosives safely and confidently. Working with explosives requires a skill set that includes accuracy, theoretical knowledge and keen attention to safety. The blasting course focuses on these skills while providing students with plenty of hands-on experience.

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Describe explosives and how to assemble them;
  • Describe regulations governing the use of explosives;
  • Describe requirements for storing explosives;
  • Describe procedures for explosive deployment;
  • Describe recording procedures;
  • Describe procedures for disposing of explosives.

** Class may end earlier on the Sunday depending on the weather and ability to complete the necessary learning objectives.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS: Students must present a criminal record check on the first day of class. As well - you will be required to wear personal protective equipment including: steel-toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses.

Minimum age is 18 years old.
